what's up...Beagle, Ataski(sp?), BHOSE...sorry, all the names I can remember off hand. I decided to start posting again....keep coming back to the good old school 80s electro. My 80s DJing was some of the best times of my life. I guess hitting 40, you realize that you are officially"old" , and you look back on the young years a lot(at least I do). Anyway, I know this has been covered, but I want to talk about nu school electro.....

I like some of the new stuff(DBS is good, but not being able to understand the vocoder is a problem) of it. I have bought the street sounds mp3s, and DEFINATLY like #1 a lot more(why more people don't like the BBoys track is beyond me!). BUT, I do find that most of the nu stuff doesn't sound much like pure electro(as this has been debated over and over).

We need a "updated" 2000's Funk/electro sound...rapping in the tracks(like the bboys did!) with some vocoder, nice synth work, etc.. to me, this is electro...as many other's would agree, who were teenagers when all of this hit in the 80s.

Keep going back to the electrofunk sound of the 80s is a backward step IMO
as Electro has evolved a lot since that particular sound.

Progression is needed in order for Electro to survive :announce:

But honestly, what Electro needs is diversity and more club nights to get the sound out to the people. In the moment Electro is completely producer driven, which is never a healthy situation for a scene. Things get to competitive, and such limitations ultimately always lead to degeneration and single mindedness.

And the last thing Electro need is right now is a style police of any kind.

Dr. Schmidt, I would agree with you. If more DJs spin electro, that would help, and be good for diversifying the sound. I still think electro needs more "funk" in it! Unfortuantley, black people usually have more soul than whites, and this is where the problem begin's(btw, I'm white!). The BBoys new song is a great example of how "new" electro could really take off(while still having the more "electronic" sound to it)...I also didn't say that I don't like new electro, I have at least 15 producers of new school on my Ipod Touch. For me, I like a majority of synth based music, so this helps me be more diversified in my likes and dislikes.

That is plane and simple racist prejudice.......

For me, who comes from industrial and techno, hiphop an rap just isn't appealing at all. So I think we need more stuff like I put it out on my label. But those are just personal opinions and don't help anyone.

These discussions are plain and simple redundant.

hmm can I just say that the b-boys new tune You Know We Rock's backing track was produced by Bass Junkie (who is about as white british as you can get!)

As for Street Sounds Nu Electro Vol 1 is can definately agree. I love this album and the cover-artwork's hanging on my wall from the day i received my copy.
Vol. 2 didn't appeal to me that much as there wasn't (IMO) quite this diversity of "old" and "new-school" (if you want to use that term)

My opinion is, it can't be only Morgan who gives the Electro-scene the push, everyones waiting for. There are a lot of hard-working people around the globe not listed in the "Electro-Chart". Think of the dutch scene with the recently split up label Clone reords, Bunker Records from The Hague or this year's D.I.E.-releases.
There's a lot of evolving going on from side of the musicians so if you stay well informed, about record releases there's really nothing to complain.

Street Sounds definitely doesn't cover the whole picture. But that would ask too much of a single label....

i personally think that we need all kind of electro,
as we all know, electro as really old genre is generally based on "schools", german, dutch, uk, american, french, italian etc, yes it isn't 100% correct, but that fact still remains.
we need more electro producers, if we want that we must promote our sound
