N’n’n’n’n’ nineteen (19), Rainforest and…Over and Over (2009). Paul Hardcastle return

  • N’n’n’n’n’ nineteen (19), Rainforest and…Over and Over (2009). The Return of “Zero One”
Paul Hardcastle, the grand architect of the first electro sounds in the 80’s, is coming back this autumn under his old skool moniker “Zero One”. After a 25 years roller-coaster career as an accomplished musician and producer, Paul Hardcastle is launching the new album “Zero One” this autumn as a digital release.

The first single from the album is called “Over and Over” and has just hit Youtube! Check it out here:

Since practically launching the electro dance scene with his” ninininininininininin nineteen” in 1985, Paul Hardcastle has been the inspiration for a whole generation of artists. A revolutionary sound at the time,”19” rocketed to number one on the British charts, and also reached the top spot in 13 different countries.
From his dance club hits of the mid-1980s through to his great achievements in the Jazz world, Paul has maintained an intentionally low profile, while at the same time being the creative force behind projects such as Zero One, Jazz Masters and Kiss the Sky.
In an industry where egos run wild, where individual talent is often dwarfed by individual vanity, Paul Hardcastle stands out as the rare musician who is more comfortable behind the scenes creating music. His most prized “possessions” are still his love of sound experimentation and the synthesizer.

    Over and Over!

  • Yep that`s pretty dope,like it!

The "Zero One" album from `85 by Universal Funk/Paul Hardcastle is still a real favourite of mine ..... would love for it to get a nice CD re-release with maybe some bonus tracks and beats.

Definitely gonna check this latest 2009 offering when it drops.

    Thanks for the info.

  • interessting....great artist! The Zero One Album from 85 is really great, dope electro and great cover artwork!

i personally dont like that new over and over track....sound is ok, but i cant stand that awful.."yeahh...ahhhh" vocals!!

sounds all in all a bit too commercial for me...others will LOVE it
    sorry, just my oppinion

  • Good hear hes back.. with new stuff and a joy to see Zero One posting on the site.

Would love to here a mix of it with out the "yeahh...ahhhh" and the small rap hook..
more of the patch that comes in around 1.50 for me anyway

  • don't get me wrong, i like PH tracks from the 80's and of course the Zero One album was great but this doesn't hit me, heard similar tracks before and that video is crap - sorry!

btw. put it up again on here under a different artist name and see how many replies it get - nearly none!

  • Good news, the track is just okaaaaay, hope there are better/harder "non-compromise" tunes on the album though (I think there will be). Don't get me wrong, huge props to Hardcastle. I watch out for it. A fan

  • From the youtube videotext:

This is taken From the forthcoming Album The Best of Zero One
Release date June 2009, A chance to get the deleted Album Zero One with lots of new Electro tracks, This track Over and Over is the type of Electro that the Album will contain , also never heard mixes of King Tut and Rainforest.

sorry, not feeling this at all.
bit of a regression I'd say ... in the 80s Paul Hardcastle was quite avantgarde and had a style of his own, but now it's back to copying the Planet Rock beat? ???

I agree. Sounds like something by the Chemical Brothers. An 808 with some dancy/bigbeat grooves over it. Sorry Paul, this one's not doing it for me. Look forward to the album though for the rawer stuff.

ELECTROFUNK is a subsidiary of HIP HOP MUSIC AND CULTURE, don't you forget it suckaz...

  • Doesn't ring my bell either i'm afraid.
Big fan of Paul Hardcastle, original zero one album is great, as well as Rain Forest etc.
This just doesn't do it for me.
Looking forward to the album with interest tho.

  • N’n’n’n’n’ nineteen. yeah! Paul Hardcastle pushed some heavy beats back in the day! i got into his music through my bruv, and now after all these years seems a bit surreal hearing Zero One! Like a trip down memory lane. Looking very VERY forward to hearing some more from this one...

    BeeEeeZeee!

P.S. does anyone know when exactly is this available in stores? And if there's a dub version Over and Over?
