Santino, I haven't seen any story from you, or from Matthias. Are you saying that Morgan ripped you off? Are you saying that Matthias is saying that? Debonaire does appear to be saying that, but he is still unclear as to how. Was he promised payment or does he have an agreement for vocal royalties? And, if Morgan ripped him off for Vol 1 why was Deb producing and recording for and promoting Vol 2? So far I have yet to see anyone else claim that they have been ripped off by Morgan, and we are talking 59 tracks over 3 compilations! So who is this "everyone" of which you are speaking? When an entire thread seems to be taking on a witch hunt atmosphere without any substantial evidence of witchcraft, then YES, it appears to be motivated by hatred and jealousy!

I feel you. If your agreement was with Morgan for royalties then he should pay you. However, if it's only supposed to be vocal royalties (again, whatever that is) and it contained deductions you just may be lucky to get that hamburger that you mentioned.

Lot´s of Compilations sended for lots of Brazilian People / Projects sended to street sounds.
Any of these projects get into the chart.

I´m promoted street sounds here and Brazilian people don´t have a respectable feedback for many time.

For example:

"Bloco Electro" (It´s a UK Project no?) it´s part of Nu Electro 3 right and no have any root´s, things or feeling of brazilian culture. Rio Funk Remix? Just have a vocals on portuguese no more no less!

Ask for Brazilian Electro Founders like a Dj´s NAZZ (Carlos Machado), Mr. Funk Santos, Cientista DJ and some others what´s is brazilian electro of brazilian old school electro funk!

Don´t ask for people on mainstream of Carioca Funk Here ask for underground and ancient dj´s what´s is the funk carioca (Rio Funk)!

I honestly do not know why part of people keep subdued the Brazilians as sub-race.

I see that the big projects here most of electro original buiding it without a sophisticated equipment for production. But lot´s of creativity envolved. For example i have lot´s of reasons to belive street sounds not be respect diferences of brazilian electro funk/bass/techno bass and breaks new school.

Bloco Electro - My Beatbox Rox! (Rio Funk Remix) no have any elements of Brazilian Electro Funk Old School! Seriously, I believe it´s a pure marketing ploy! The Music is not bad but no have brazilian electro elements.

I represent a community with more than 50 underground disc jockey and producers in Brazil. and they really expect to be treated with more respect and dignity while respecting the differences of production without preconceptions.

For this people remember Brazil TAKES OFF!

Have a open market for electro here more then 1.000.000 of potential consumers.

And finally.

I want people need be more united arround the REAL electro cause!
I hope people treat each other with more respect for the pioneers of electro!
I also hope that at least here in Brazil. I fought for this so that the real electro is recognized and remembered because electro funk is not electro house!

It´s time for united the people not time for spit the people!

If we fight and we do not respect each other. Isolated actions will not make the mainstream recognize the importance of true electro and provide him his proper place which is her right!

Have fought for space with with raves (psy), new school house clubs, with his own new school funk carioca tamborzão (big drums) with his words, apologies to porn, weapons and drugs. Coz if you read my last post as well as any other, you can see i am trying to be as fair as possible to Morgan; even expressing my concerns and suspicions, i have been the most fair not simply saying he is a screwed up person and destroying his character.

My only point is that stories have been told far and wide, and are all being expressed here in this thread...some could simply be jealousy, some could be legitimate. Seems you are very suspicious of every single person here claiming wrong doing, and that is not fair also.

Believe when i say i want to see this all in the end be a giant misunderstanding, and for the record to be set straight that Morgan is a good fellow. I have put a lot of confidence in him, and i would rather not feel like i believed in a crook...something that no one is able to prove he is, or that he isn't.

This is a sad moment, and it really could go either way, we got duped, or through a giant misconception we have allowed a man's credibility to be dragged through the mud by ill conceived ideas.

I am just as confused as anyone else, but again...let's not simply assume everyone is lying here, why so many, why so consistent with the same issues of not being paid, had copies sent, etc.?

I stated my personal experience a few pages ago and do not care to write it out again. As far as what you and i talked about before...yes, i got paid...25 euros, which included a percentage taken out for manufacturing costs, which personally, was a bit weird since i have always understood that manufacturing costs come out of the sale price, not the artist's cut. I have yet to see another quarterly report, and hope i will...besides that, i have thought very highly of Morgan. Something that was always a conflict with many of my colleagues, as they continuously told me the stories that are now being aired live for you to read.

Generally speaking manufacturing costs are the labels liability. If youre being paid a flat rate you should not expect a deduction for manufacturing (thats unethical). If youre being paid a royalty then the label will recover costs before paying out any artist royalty. Also advances are not recoverable from the label unless under special circumstances (unlikely when its a licensing deal (youve made the recording, so you've already upheld your end of the agreement, all you need to do is stick a DAT in the post and phone to make sure they received it)),

any deviation from the norm should be picked up when reading the contract - if you want, PM me the contract and I'll take a look at it

I vote that theres a business section to the forum created were there are example contracts for various types of deals, licensing EP's, Compilation... Live Bookings etc and were people with more experiance can answer questions... like the production section but for the nitty gritty... that would be more useful than any plan for a fucking CHART for christ sake. (leaving out actual numbers ($$ ££ €€)... just talk about the mechanics of a deal)

I agree... artists need to be knowledgeable about the music business so they aren't taken advantage of by greedy people.

number one rule in pretty much anything...teaching, marraiage, kids, business etc...if you don't give your expectations explicitly of what you want out of a situation up front and then you don't get what you want, it's sorta your fault.

now if you tell MK you want a CD or payment out of the deal up front and he doesn't give it to you, then there's a problem, but after the fact just doesn't fly out in the real world i'm sorry to say, i know it sucks, i hate it, but that's the way world we live in ya'll.

like Mirage said, ya can't let your guard down for a sec when it comes to business, otherwise, well then we have all these problems.
