New World Record on ebay ?

  • Haven't heard that one before, what's it like Wayne?

ELECTROFUNK is a subsidiary of HIP HOP MUSIC AND CULTURE, don't you forget it suckaz...

  • it seems that price is more for the names who are involved in this songs and for the fact that its a testpress only.
    the songs are average imo

i would pay 50$ max. for it

  • kaos - I was only being sarcastic m8. We all know that Radio mars and a few others have went for plenty more in the early 2000's m8.. remember I was around then :)

Yes as a test press $35-50 only.. they are only average. But you know me Ej hahaha. I dont care what record it is.. my limit is $60.00.. ebay inflation is crazy !

  • There was a rare mix master gee and the turntable orchestra record that Ive never seen on ebay two nights ago that went for a few hundred bucks. I didnt save the link..did anyone else see that one ?

if you have the chance to buy that 12" for 200$, im sure you would buy it...as you have the chance to re-sell it for around 600$ ;D

i saw it too, it sold for 255$...way too espensive!! but only because 2 guys were bidding it up. Without just that one N***Y bidder it would have sold for 90$ only. For me, a expensive record is a record were 10-15 different people bidding on it and it sells for 255$, but not a record who sells for 255$ just because 2 people want it and bid it up.

the question is also: what is expensive? for a rich guy 255$ is nothing, for normal people like us its a good amount of money.
its true in the mid 00's some records were sold way too espensive..because a lot of people were inspired by freddy fresh's book adn the wrong star rating, mp3s and wrong seller describtions..but soon they have noticed that the most electro records are just not that rare, like they thought.
Beef box and Dont' fess for example were expensive records some years back..everyone thought these are very rare..today you can get them between 30 and 60$ in NM or Mint condition.
I saw a NM copy of magik mike theme on ebay recently..ended with 0 bids!!

the electro records witch are still really expensive are just a very few:
    Maggotronics-Radio Mars
    Antron-Earthquake Testpress
    Radio Crew Ep
    and a few more

generally electro prices tend do go down..
example: AMP Crew..i saw it on ebay selling for 900$ 3 or 4 years ago...just last year i had problems to get rid of my spare copy...at least i sold it for 200$.
only the real rare electro records are still very expensive..
even you have a lot of patience and even you are are RICH you cant buy them..so it has a good reason why a lot of the expensive electro records loose some value, and only a hanfdull (like the maggotronics)keept their high value.

  • Ej,

You are 100% right. Time and patience is king ! Records I paid $35-$65 for back in 2001 I see going for $6-$20 max ! Speaking about RICH people who can afford to spend that much money on a record. They still cause the prices to inflate on records sellers keep labeling as "Rare". Records that were said to be SUPER rare back in 2003 are now on ebay DAILY for cheap !

Which means. Time will bring the value down of the records no matter what. Frost battle beat 10 years ago would go for over $150, I seen a copy last week go for about $70. So Rich or poor does not matter, The true value of the record should not be inflated because these guys keep pushing the prices. There are only a hand full of records that are worth Big money as you stated. Radio mars, Antron, ect ect..

Other records ...there are STILL 100's of copies left in the states and over seas so there is no need for bidders to act like its the last piece of bread on earth.

I also miss the old days when ebay did NOT have the "private" bidders because there was a respect factor among us collectors. If I saw a record and Bokkiebeh, or Ej were bidding on the record. I would NOT bid I would just wait for the next copy to show. That way my fellow collectors dont pay inflated prices.

None the less.. I guess thats why it pays to collect and dig in record stores rather then EBAY...

  • youre right wayne..
i remember the first copy of the frost 12" i ever saw was sold for 465$..it was in 2002 or 2003..it was a big topic also in the EE forum. they were bidding like its their last chance in their life to get that record lol..
But today this 12" pops up nearly every month for sale, and mostly in NM or M or Sealed Condition, so the most people with a bit extra money already own the Frost 12"...so this 12" lost so much value, like the most electro records. It's a question of supply and demand..

If people pay 465 or 70$ for it, rare or not, the important thing is THAT THE SONG IS GOOD!! And the Frost 12" is one of the best imo..

  • yes! this is the main thing.. is the record GOOD.. good music, good beats ! some of these people will bid high on records simply because it is said to be RARE... but not all the records are good records.. just hard to find.
