I agree with doctorcrack. 80's all the way !!! No doubt. Nothing can match it after 1988. Case in point:
The production Larry Smith did on Whodini's Escape album- CLASSIC !!!!
The production Jam on productions did on Newcleus Jam on Revenge album- CLASSIC !!!
The library of 12"inch singles Micheal Sterling put out- Un matched !!!Egyptian lover,Amos Larkin, Pretty Tony, nobody can touch these classics.. I try to make electro in the old school style these days. But nothing like a fresh 12"inch from 84' to do the trick
my opinion only of course. But the 90's had some pretty cool stuff too. Bokkie would be the top collector for that stuff as well. Peace

The Jonzun Crew - Pak Man ( Boston International Records) ... I remember when It was first re/pressed people went around buying a bunch of re-issues thinking they were original pressing....

Ive had both at one point in time in my collecting. The first one found in my uncles original collection ( The top one) is the first pressing. I still love this record.

Man Parrish..... Where was he ? Amos Larkin......? where was He ? Egyptian Lover.... Where was he ? If this documentary doesnt have these people in it... Ehhhhh I might pass up on it. Id probably watch to hear Arthur bakers part and then turn it off. Doesnt look to promising to hard core old school 808 fans.

yes! this is the main thing.. is the record GOOD.. good music, good beats ! some of these people will bid high on records simply because it is said to be RARE... but not all the records are good records.. just hard to find.

Ej,
You are 100% right. Time and patience is king ! Records I paid $35-$65 for back in 2001 I see going for $6-$20 max ! Speaking about RICH people who can afford to spend that much money on a record. They still cause the prices to inflate on records sellers keep labeling as "Rare". Records that were said to be SUPER rare back in 2003 are now on ebay DAILY for cheap !
Which means. Time will bring the value down of the records no matter what. Frost battle beat 10 years ago would go for over $150, I seen a copy last week go for about $70. So Rich or poor does not matter, The true value of the record should not be inflated because these guys keep pushing the prices. There are only a hand full of records that are worth Big money as you stated. Radio mars, Antron, ect ect..
Other records ...there are STILL 100's of copies left in the states and over seas so there is no need for bidders to act like its the last piece of bread on earth.
I also miss the old days when ebay did NOT have the "private" bidders because there was a respect factor among us collectors. If I saw a record and Bokkiebeh, or Ej were bidding on the record. I would NOT bid I would just wait for the next copy to show. That way my fellow collectors dont pay inflated prices.
None the less.. I guess thats why it pays to collect and dig in record stores rather then EBAY...

There was a rare mix master gee and the turntable orchestra record that Ive never seen on ebay two nights ago that went for a few hundred bucks. I didnt save the link..did anyone else see that one ?
-
kaos - I was only being sarcastic m8. We all know that Radio mars and a few others have went for plenty more in the early 2000's m8.. remember I was around then
Yes as a test press $35-50 only.. they are only average. But you know me Ej hahaha. I dont care what record it is.. my limit is $60.00.. ebay inflation is crazy !
-
Does anyone else have this ?
