I like the discrepancy in prices - £9 - £99! Some people!

Reason would be a good bet as it has built in synths. (good ones too by all accounts)
-
ah yes, I see - makes sense!

I've got a question:
How can I see who's listened to my tracks? For example, I uploaded a new track yesterday. It says I had 6 plays from 3 countries, but under "listeners of your tracks" it only shows 1 person who played it once. How can I see who played it the other 5 times?
-
I use my monitors direct out of my soundcard and it's fine.
-
Having used the ELS vocoder, I can say for certain that it is easily the best I've heard. Nothing comes close.

Apparently the asio4all drivers are not multi-client, so they shouldn't work. But the Echo ones are (supposedly!).
Problem with your solution is that the 'sound' control panel only gives me the option of selecting either 1/2 or 3/4 as default device. So if I select 1/2 and set Ableton to 3/4 then I'll hear no sound from Ableton.
Protoype, looks like I'm gonna have to e-mail Echo's Tech. support - I'll let you know how I get on.

I do think this is a problem for the electro scene in general. And maybe thats simply because for me locally there is no electro scene.
This is the thing. Like it or not, electro is a tiny, minority music scene. Very underground.
House, on the other hand is HUGE and pretty mainstream, so while the style 'electro house' remains popular, it's name will be shortened to 'electro'. misconceptions will continue and we'll have to put up with them.

No, I don't mean ReWired, just be able to have more than one app use the soundcard at once.
I can't see anything to configure on the control panel either - only the ability to select my soundcard as 'default device' (which it is).
mmm...

I'm using an Echo firewire interface and I'm having a problem where I can't hear sound from more than one open app. For example, if I have Cubase running, I can't hear sound from Ableton or a website such as YouTube; I have to either shutdown Cubase or deselect the ASIO driver.
This can't be right surely!
I'm using Windows 7 - anyone got any ideas how to set this thing up properly so multi-client works?
-
Love it - gotta be hardcore though!.
This is the sort of stuff:

even the Streetsounds LPs were called 'hip hop' in 86.
-
haha, no way Kaos, not everybody.
-
haha, yeah, I figured that, in 1985, in our naivety, many of US would have called it 'electro'!
-
It's just a random list of 80's music. SOme great, some rubbish, some not even 'electro'.
-
I think that's because, in America, it wasn't really called 'electro'.

Yes - I'd like to hear that again. I remember having it on a Mike Allen C90. It was the same time as the 'Oh My God' album was being played. The tape has since snapped so an MP3 would be great. (although if I hear it again, I'll put myself at risk of ruining how good it sounds in my head!)
You used to have the LP!

i think they all know its really Electro House, but just use the shorted name Electro.
these threads of seemingly paniced Electro heads shows they are winning this argument. if there is even an argument. that would take two sides of debate. do Electro House heads really care this is Electro Empire and there isn't a drop of Electro House on it. i'm not so sure.
)ha, so true.

In your selective conclusion why did you fail to acknowledge these?
It is your conclusion - not mine
because that quote could be taken to mean one of two things - I'm open minded, but you've made up your mind. AND, it's not really relevant to the discussion of whether or not techno evolved from house.
Quote from ChristianRock;38646'No UFOs' is undoubtably techno. Just because Juan hadn't started using the term to describe that sound in 85 doesn't mean anything like it previous to 88 isn't techno IMO.
And Techno definately evolved from House, the detroit boys will tell you that.
Isnt that a contradiction? I agree that 'No UFOs' is techno, or at least a predecessor. Which is why I'm saying that techno evolved concurrently to house. 'No UFOs' was a 1985 record - so how did this 'evolve from house'?
QuoteAll genres have multiple influences - its never as simple as 'techno comes from euro sounds', 'house comes from disco' because multiple individuals and groups developed those genres and these people all had multiple musical influences
You're absolutely right. techno and house share common ancestors and influences. I disagree that one was born of the other. 'No UFOs' (sorry to keep using this example, but it fits the bill perfectly!) is proof of this isn't it?
